In America the car Model T has just been invented, and Britian, as well as the States, is in an industrial revolution. However, in the region of Eiru, society is just now taking hold as Europeans and Americans alike colonize the pristine landscapes of New Zealand. With civilization and wilderness so close together, will harmony continue to reign supreme or will it collapse into chaos and war?
YEAR: Three
SEASON: Summer
MATING: No
BIRTHING: No
HUNTING: The main concentrations of deer are in the Eira Valley, and Glyn plains. However, the Glyn herds are being aggressively poached by the humans, leaving less for the wolves that hunt there. Seals are present on the coastlines.
PACK SITUATIONS: With the snow melted, more and more humans are now traveling in on the fully functioning rail system. The Alphas have come to an agreement to engage in geurilla warfare with the humans, luring them into the wilderness before striking. Alas, Glyn's Alphess, Aria, was shot and killed by a human. Glyn's next course of action is still unknown. Auryn is plotting to kidnap Edryd pups while Eira and Innis still remain isolated from the lower mainland occurances.

Dusty and tired, Phaelyn and Susiana emerged from the twisting tunnels to find a few wolves talking, facing a single wolf. 'Hello?'she asked timidly from the entrance of the dens. The wolves turned to her direction."Erm...hello. My name is Phaelyn. I would like to join your pack."Her bitten left ear twitched; it did so whenever she was nervous. She backed away a step; the wolf looking at her seemed to deserve a certain respect. "I can prove myself, if necessary."she said, adopting a slightly defensive position. Liste's words had colored her perception of Auryn; she certainly hoped she would not have to fight, but if it came to it, she felt sure she would at the very least survive. She gave Susiana a little nudge, letting her know Phaelyn's part was spoken; Susiana could take her turn now.

Glyn smelt barren the second she crossed its border. Obviously the pack was a tad low on members. What a shame. She'd believed this pack to be a strong one, but it seemed there was no one there to protect it. Maybe she should move here, rather than going back to the unclaimed lands as she had during her days as a member of Auryn. It was surely something to consider.
But why had she come stepped onto the Glyn territory anyway? It was that sound. The most gruesome howl, perhaps, that she had ever heard. It was grotesque and frightening, yet it compelled her the second it reached her lobes as she'd been standing in the renegade lands. The sound was filled with pain and anger, but why? She had to know. Like many others, Liste's curiousity tended to get the best of her at times. But perhaps she took that trait so lightly because she feared very little. This howl could mean danger lurked ahead, but she would never know if she avoided the sound, so she followed it. The last sounds she'd heard before this were harsh words. The same female that had challenged her to show herself had growled quietly after her and she'd heard it clear as a bell. We will settle this another time... She half wanted to laugh. Phaelyn could try to come at her, but it would only end in disaster.
Liste stopped abruptly when she realized she had reached her destination. Three males and two young females stood a distance before her, one of these males the obvious Alpha. This occasion seemed important, and she figured it was best to avoid interrupting unless invited, so she stood back and waited for the opportunity to present herself.

A growl ripped from Susiana's throat at Liste's words. "These wolves will tear you apart." That smug tone in her voice only intensified the anger that was overtaking Susiana. Snarls were constantly tearing from her now as she snapped her teeth at the black wolf. She was ready to fight, but Liste exited the clearing. Susiana heard Phaelyn growl something quietly to Liste, but she couldn't quite catch what it was. As one more growl escaped her, Liste disappeared back into the night from which she came. Her eyes slowly turned from slits back to their original size as she scanned the clearing once more, looking for signs of any more intruders.
Susiana saw Phaelyn out of the corner of her eye and turned towards her. Upon further observation, she seemed lost in a trance, or perhaps a memory. She nudged Phaelyn's shoulder slightly and her eyes became more focused on what was in front of her. When she spoke, Phaelyn had a voice full of anger.
"What will we do next? I do not like what this....Liste" Phaelyn said the name with hatred dripping like poison off her tongue. "What this Liste has said. I think we should go to the dens and see what these Auryn wolves are really like. What do you two think?"
Susiana thought it over a minute. "We should be cautious, but moving forward is our best option. Should we still rest here and wait until morning to leave, or just go now?"
"I think we should move on. This forest is too unsafe; too much cover. Plus, I would like to meet these wolves who would love to tear us apart." Phaelyn answered with a small, mischievous smile. A matching smile appeared on Susiana's face, along with a troublesome glint in her eyes. Matias thought a moment, then nodded and carried on. Susiana looked to Phaelyn and then turned towards the north.

ooc//: See the pack badge under your name? Your wolf is already technically a part of Auryn. :] If you want to join officially, you should do so through roleplay, i.e. have your wolf meet the alphess (that's my character, Druid, in this case). You also have the option to simply have your wolf integrated into the pack without having to do a in-character 'joining' board, if you like.

Re: Newcomer « Result #9 Today at 4:16pm »
Shortly after the snap of the branch, a loud chuckle-growl escaped from the woods. The three she-wolves turned, hackles up, teeth bared, toward the source of the sound -- and saw a midnight black wolf, small and proud, stepping out of the cover of the woods. Though she was small -- about Phaelyn's size, actually -- the confidence, even arrogance, radiating off the she-wolf was palpable. Matias stepped one single small step back, but Phaelyn and Susiana stood their ground. The trio all seemed ready to fight and unlikely to run.
The black wolf spoke. "Je m'appelle Liste... And you, madmoiselles, may want to consider a kinder pack. You shake nervously at the sound of Stealth lurking around you - vous êtes effrayé - these wolves will tear you apart. I'm sure you will stay and try to prove yourselves... Bon chance."
So Liste was her name....Liste began to circle the small, improvised "pack" of three. All three turned with her. Phaelyn snapped her teeth and pounced forward a few times, and she was sure the others probably did, though she was so focused on this Liste that she did not notice.
The wolf began to exit the clearing. What she said unnerved Phaelyn, but she had a tough skin. She growled, ever so softly, to the wolf as she left:"Liste. A name I shall remember. We will settle this another time -- you and me." Though it was barely mumbled, she was sure Liste had heard her. Phaelyn was not one to mince words, and she certainly meant her promise, and intended to carry it out as soon as possible. However, if this was a packmate....she wondered about this wolf's words, though. Were the packs this hostile? If so, she would be better off the way she had been before....
There was a rustle in the leaves, a snap of the branches. Three wolves? Four? No way to tell. She tried to escape, but there was no way -- she was surrounded. "I WILL FIGHT TO THE DEATH!" she declared. "So be it." said the leader of the renegade pack; and so they attacked.
A slight nudge from Susiana brought Phaelyn back to her uncertain reality."What will we do next?" Phaelyn queried."I do not like what this....Liste" she spit the name like an expletive. "What this Liste has said. I think we should go to the dens and see what these Auryn wolves are really like. What do you two think?"

She let out a haughty chuckle, with a bit of a growl mixed in. One had dared to challenge her a bit, that was a good sign. As for the others, she didn't think they would fare well in Auryn. Those wolves, Decadence especially, would rip them to shreds. Maybe they had the ability to fight well, but they couldn't hold their own when it came to words. She contemplated leaving then, and abandoning the group with only nervousness, but decided revealing herself would be all too amusing.
The ebony vixen stepped almost silently out from the brush. She stood a ways away from the females, her neck stretched to attempt to show a prideful dominance within her small, lean stature. She was still barely visible in the night under her unkept black pelt.
She stepped slowly in a wide circle around them as she spoke, stopped for a split second to face Phaelyn, the one who had dared challenge her, then turned and retreated into the brush, leaving them with her words and her 'good luck' as she headed off to find a different place to live. She was sure that no one here even realized she had been absent anyway, so her changing affiliation would not matter in the slightest.

&&they say war changes you
The black coated male shifted his head around lazily. Honestly, it had been days since he had seen anyone, and the big thriving pack that he had been admitted in, just over a year before looked thin. Yawning with a slight whine, he looked over the land, seeing smoke unfurl haph hazardly in the distance. No, he had seen no one as late, and was reluctant also to hang around with Feste, since he was so goddamn annoying... What happened at the Alpha's meeting, he had no clue either, as he did not have to escort the Lady Argo back to her home in the mountains. Instead, the male had taken to scouting the borders almost ruthlessly, tracking down any humans and spying on them wherever he had thought was humanely possible.
Yes, Makani had taken to stalking the two leggers, watching them, learning how they use their limbs and cover their furless bodies. To be honest, it made him feel sick, but whatever helped them in the end was a good enough thing for him to contend with... and besides, it kept him busy. Now however, the scraggly remains of some kind of rodent type creature lay and litle way from him, and a smooth, pink tongue ran over his teeth to clean them.
Smacking his chops, the brute automatically froze as the sombre, melancholy sound reverberated across the plains. Quickly, his hawk gold gaze snapped in that direction, ears following but a second later. The sound of the call practically tore a hole in Makani's chest, the first note alone enough to tell him that something was wrong, and that it was in fact his Alpha that called his pack to his side, the notes creating the dark aura of a funeral dirge, or the singing at a wake.
Frowning, Makani instantly rose to all four paws, giving only a slight stretch before picking his exhausted legs into a trot, then a full lope. The Alphen was not that far away... no, he was not... and soon enough, the blackened wolf could see the figures of his leader, the two young princesses, and, to his surprise, Feste. A worried expression cast on his muzzle, Makani flattened his ears and lowered his tail, looking up at the tired looking Aphelion with sad eyes, cocking his head to one side before dipping his head sombrely towards him, and then to the royal siblings, before giving a slight nod to Feste.
'Aphelion?' he mumured, stepping forwards, ready to be either comforter or meatshield at this particular moment. The daughters, he noted, looked worried... and there was no sign of Aria. His eyes flashed with a little panic... what had gone on here?

Watera no Tamashii v2 - Canine's Soul « Result #14 Yesterday at 10:45pm »
Once, long ago, humans roamed the earth, going between land masses with ease and pleasure. This was the natural way of things. There were many wild animals on the planet, wolves among them.
One day, a white wolf was lost and thirsty. Her name was Leda. She came upon a body of water that stretched as far as her eyes could see. Thinking it something to drink, she lapped it up quickly. Overcome with dizziness, she fell into the water, yet she did not drown. She felt solidity beneath her feet, and when she looked up again, discovered that she was on an underwater land bridge. She hadn't noticed it before, but now she could see it.
Eagerly she ran along it, splashing the bitter water into her coat. She ran for three days, and on the third day she found an island. She named it Reikoku-Soul Island-because there was no one on it. That is, she thought there was no one on it.
She found that the island was plentiful with all the wildlife she'd known in the past, but without many predators. She ate many things and drank the sweet lake and river water that came from the island. After she had been there a while, she discovered a change in her appearance. She had sprouted wings.

i found a tidal wave begging to tear down the dawn memories like bullets, they fired at me from a gun crack in the armor, yeah
Eternity passed for Aphelion to lower his head back to a comfortable level, empty eyes focused straight ahead. And yet it only seemed to take seconds for the first wolf to answer the call. Were it any other time, this would've been the last wolf he would've wanted to be the first arrival; at the Alphas meeting, Feste had come close to being the biggest pain in the behind he had ever known.
But today was different. Right now, he would take any company that he could get.
Asha and Akante looked at their father out of the corners of their eyes, waiting for him to acknowledge this arrival. And uncomfortable silence settled as they sat, wondering if they would have to be the speakers for him. But the muscles in Aphelion's mouth began to twitch, trying to shape themselves around the consonants and vowels of his pack member's name, yet nothing seemed to work, as though he had suddenly become handicapped. Swallowing hard, he closed his eyes, cleared his throat, and finally pushed out, "Feste." The corners of his lips twitched up in the makings of a smile for a split second before conforming back to the neutrality that captivated his features. He could feel the relief wash over his daughters at the fact their father was still somewhat coherent. Both girls then added their own nod of recognition, hoping to make this situation a little less awkward. Yet there was very little hope for that now.

Matias moved closer to Phaelyn as she replyed at the direction the movement was coming from she ehard her heart beating and her breathing slowly she took a deep breath. She caught a scent on the wind "another wolf, but why this trickery" she thought as she stood next to Phaelyn her eyes and body langage ready for any attack if it should come.
Her paw felt all the movements in the ground her ears picked up all the sounds around her her teeth showed slightly showing she was not in guard mode not letting anything pass her if a bird flew past her eyes caught it and she would ghive alow growel even a stray leaf. She knew if push came to shove she would fight to her death if needed.

Phaelyn noted as Susiana scanned the immediate area. "I don't think this is accidental," she said. "That is correct," Phaelyn responded, "this is definitely deliberate." But who?was the silent question in her mind.Is this a rogue? A test? Or just some sick joke? There was no way to tell, and Phaelyn was not about to take chances. The three wolves backed clser to each other, almost tail to tail. There was another crunch of leaves, very quick...but not too quick. "Anybody know which way?" asked Susiana. Matias looked around, but Phaelyn promptly answered "North-northwest. Due west. Our direction...."she trailed off. Too close for comfort. "Safety in numbers, safety in numbers...." Susiana mumbled. If only it were that easy...*CRACK*.Another branch. When would this end?"Show yourself, wolf. Are you a coward?"challenged Phaelyn. She just wished this would END....

Susiana felt slightly protected by the strategy they all seemed to adopt. Each wolf had a side to protect, until they discerned which side the threat would be coming from. Susiana's pale eyes scanned the night in her area until another snap came from the darkness. Her ears were pointed in effort of listening for another sound, but none came. Still, her eyes never quit watching the woods. "I don't think is accidental." Susiana growled quietly to her comrades. Off to the side she heard Phaelyn respond. "You would be correct. This is definitely deliberate." Just then there was another crunch of leaves, but it was quick and quiet, so Susiana still was not able to pinpoint the location of the danger. The night was silent again for a moment, save for the breathing of the three she-wolves. "Anybody know which way?" Susiana asked while keeping her eyes on the trees.

"All right Susiana; I am a light sleeper anyway." said Phaelyn, allowing Susiana the first watch. As the white wolf settled down, Phaelyn circled a soft patch of grass and lay down. Just as she tucked her head against her leg, she heard a branch snap. It sounded to heavy to be a bird or a rabbit, but also sounded a little to deliberate to be a wolf...or one with a presence of mind, at least. However, Phaelyn was suspicious by nature. Just as she was raising her head to speak, Matias spoke exactly what she was thinking. "Did you just hear something?" she asked. Phaelyn slowly raised herself into a defensive position. She spoke softly. "Yes, I think so. Susiana?" She spoke a little louder now. "Yes, I did hear it too." Susiana's ears were already pricked. Phaelyn quietly asked, "Please, come here." Susiana obliged. Phaelyn, Susiana, and Matias formed a loose defensive position; each wolf taking a side. They hear a leaf crunch, and their heads snapped all in sync to the point where the sound came from. It was too loud this time for game or prey; some wolf was deliberately doing this. But was it rogue? Phaelyn's disfigured left ear twitched with remembrance of her last run-in with rogues. She talked herself through it, though. She was among friends -- or at least, something close to friends. She had seen Susiana and Matias play-fight; they seemed able enough. The trio waited quietly in the night for another sound, another indication of the danger they were sure was there.

Maitas looked around something hung in the wind something she felt was not right "ok Susiana, I am rested enough but will lay down. " she said padding around the spot they had chosen. Her yellow eyes piercing the night for what or who ever was out there. She sniffed the air but there was only the faint scent of the water that she could make out. A softer one lingered in the back ground and it was this one that unnerved her.
She moved to the outer limits of the clearing and moved around, circling and unsettled. Nervous at the feeling she had of being watched her ears now pricked up caught every sound , the birds as they moved above her, the rabbits as they scurried into the holes for the night. But she carried on watching looking out for any danger she didn't trust the new wolves but what choice did she have if she was to become a pack member she would have to learn to trust those she ran with.
Finding a spot she lay down but her ears staid up. Her nose picking up all the scents that hung around them as the night drew in around them.
She heard the sound of leaves crunching under the paws of somthing ,twigs cracked as it moved she stood up watching waiting .
Her muscles all tensed ready to attack should the need arise her mind focused was it freind or foe she had no way of knowing and so quickly moved back to Susiana "Did you hear that?" she asked as she still glanced around as she tried to perice the darkness more.
When Wolves Cry « Result #27 on Dec 5, 2009, 3:32pm »
Site: When Wolves Cry Link: www.whenwolvescry.com When Wolves Cry begins on the main island, which is currently Caldonia Isaland. There is one smaller island to the south of the mainland connected by a small land bridge. The volcano that resides upon Minuitt erupted nearly one hundred years ago bringing forth the two interesting islands. Only time will tell if the volcano is to be dormant forever or if there is another eruption up its sleeve.
An on going feud exists between Vetis and Hael, the two dominant packs on the islands. It dates back many centuries for reasons that are barely known to most. Many think that it had something to do with two brothers, Talim and Mundi—one malicious and cruel, the other gentle as can be. Talim declared war on his brother after Mundi denounced him as family. The story goes that the two packs have always held each other with extreme hatred. The wolves of Vetis are terrors to the land, picking fights and rampaging wherever it is they deem fit. The wolves of Hael are more passive and gentle, willing to stay within their own territory to avoid conflict. Of course, they do have their strengths and if pushed they will stand up for the good in their world. The third pack, Kadre, was simply the middle ground, founded long after the two packs went to war. The wolves of the mountain pack know of the fight but refuse to take sides, mostly only tending to the broken spirits of those who are finished with war and declaring the mountain as a religious place of sanctuary.
Journey to a land where wolves are the primary species populating two distinct islands. Gain points and gain the privilege of being able to play a different species. Will you voyage to the lost islands, or will you sit back and simply remain a lurker?

The waters were so pristine, rocking shoalls of fish back and fourth in their lulling ways. THey sparkled under the summer sun, twinkling back tesselations of light making it a welcoming vista from the cliffs of Glyn. The sea rushed at the short line of beach directly beneath the rocky peak, and Righ stood observing from Eagle Pointe in the Glyn territory. He heard the mourning call of Alpheion echo throughout the land, and the obsidian wolf shook his head in recognized sympathy. He was beyond mourning, but called back a formal howl, an echo of Innis condolance.
He let his song sail on the sea breeze, inward towards the mainland, ringing long after he ended the dirge. But now it was time for him to go home. The Elder of Truth had spent enough time on the mainland to gauge the situation, and was far too long away from his island. THe gaurdian hated being so far away, so helpless in regards to their safety. While his pack was small, it was his to protect; not that he doubted Mneme or Kaliani, he was just one to do things for himself.
Silently, he quickly desended the cliffs, reaching the bottom in an hour and already walking out along the coral bridge. The tides had receded enough to let him pass, touching the reef as a sort of hidden guide, safe passage from the sea wolves whose fins so often breached the sparkling surface. Righ's yellow eyes trained towards the sandy shore, and within three hours he'd crossed from the mainland to the island. So much had happened, and he knew Mneme would come looking for information eventually; she was always preoccupied with pack buisness, and so the male knew it his duty to keep her informed; she would get ancy if he did not, and that was the last thing he wanted: any reason for Mneme to do something... stupid rash.
Compacted paws touched soft sand, and the lithe male--no longer a stocky looking breed of the north--shook out his short coat. Water flew from the ends, no longer weighing him down, and with this new sense of freedom Righ started off at an easy lope. The swim had drained him, but not enough as to allow him to walk; his pride and stamina were far stronger than that. He moved at a steady pace, nose high in the air as he followed Mneme's scent on the warm breeze. The winds shifted yet again, and blew a surprise to the Elder: a newcomer.
Already the island scent intermingled with the new one; she'd been here for some time. Mneme must've already noticed her, and as Righ drew closer, he slowed to a walk, tail high, but otherwise casual. He hopped up the rocks, claws scrapping and giving away his prescence to a trained ear, and came upon the scene. Mneme was talking to her, he supposed, but otherwise they were alone. The incesent calling of the gulls and the bark of seals could be heard far off, while sea foam splashed up along the edge of the rocks... something the trespasser was unusually close to. Without a word, the black wolf moved to Mneme's side, his shoulder brushing gently against her's.
Righ's peircing yellow eyes fixated on Kelpie, and he stared in silence, making no other sound, movements, or gestures.
