personality:"I have an adament nature, and have matured due to all my experiences. I feel as if pride is my greatest trait, for although I'd once sold it without a second thought, my time in Eira has taught me that it is what seperates a wolf from a coyote or dog. I try to help others whenever I can, but I no longer try to walk in my father's paw steps. I have a mello personality and get along with everyone; I hardly think I've ever hated anyone in my life. Although i get angry, I am usually the first one to forgive. As far as combat goes, there are few who can match my skill, and my quick-thinking tactics on the battle-field. Valour and noblity and love are the greatest assest to a wolf, and I harness them every day, protecting my pack."
history:"In a pack not of any legend or lore, I was born. My parents were of no particular rank; my father a gaurd and my mother a retired gaurd. Father was dedicated and loyal, but my mother, Assena, was more of a loner and remained on the outskirts of the territory. She was a free spirit, and that was about the only thing I gained from her.
Once I was a year old, I joined the gaurd with my brother and sister to learn the ways of a warrior. When I was a year and a half old, my skills would soon be put to the test. Humans invaded the land and took the wolves captive, setting up a trading post for dogs, wolves, and furs. Although we'd all fought noblely, it proved futile against human invasion.
Slowly my pack was sold one by one, until one day a man bought Renee. Assena attacked the man who tried to take her away and killed two humans before being shot shot. My mother was dragged away and Renee put into the traces alongside huskies and beaten into submission. I was sold with my brother to a French fur trader; but i was smart enough to know the law of club and fang. Righ and I ran in the traces for almost a year. Then one night they pulled into a human outpost, where the sled team was caged alongside wolves freshly pulled from the wild. I had tried to convince the wolves that they were best off just doing as they're told, but they called me a mutt for forgetting the pride which came from being a wolf.
And then I started thinking...was it true? I felt the leather collar around my neck, and knew that it was proof. I'd always kept my head low so I could keep alive another day and attack when ready, but I'd never felt ready. My master, he called me 'Diable Rouge' or 'Rouge' for short, given me this collar, and kept food in my stomach. I never minded the treatment and as such, went soft in my brother's eyes as well as those of the wild wolves. Well, the wolves there that night offered to back me up.
The wolves there wanted revenge for what the human's did to their Alphess, and that's when I learned the identity of the wolf who would not be broken. But that night a yearling came snooping around, she looked young and a little thin, but otherwise in good condition. The wolves recognized her as Argo, daughter of the Alphess. That's when I met the young heiress for the first time. I pointed her towards her mother and tugged at the rope which bound me, out of boredom, really. But as I chewed on it playfully, my auds twitched and heard the humans start to stir. Now would be the time to act. I chewed through the cord, and looked around to see my brother free as well, and the young female running.
Righ ran after the female, and struck down any humans that got into his way. And finally--although Righ and myself did not know this--traders shot Argo, though it was merely in the shoulder, something dropped her as she fainted. But Righ saw it as a lethal shot, and gaurded the body, snarling at anyone who came near. I stood growling at my brother, as we made our sides clear.
"This is NOT the time for this, brother. They'll kill you for attacking them; we are not masters of the humans."
"I have not lost my pride, Quixote. She is an Alphess and i will stand by her side until my last breath." was his snarled reply.
I stopped, looking at the feirceness in his eyes; there was something strangely feral and brutish, something I had long let leave my viens. On his side, the woods and a 'dead' alphess, and on mine humans with their snarling dogs, guns, and praising words for me cornering the rebel. Did my life mean more than my brothers? Was i really willing to let him die? Something inside him failed to be restrained, for he was willing to die by someone he'd hardly known. And i? I was not willing to die at all.
But I looked to the dogs being held back, then up at the humans and slowly advanced. But after 3 steps i stopped, and turned, looking into their eyes. Mine were firm and blazing, but i did not snarl like Righ. I simply started into their eyes, trying with every ounce of my being to communicate 'Spare her.' And after a few tense moments, their guns fell and their dogs quieted as the traders wrestled my brother away and took the Alphess off in their arms. When I returned, my brother had told of how i'd let them take her, and I felt scorned and hated; but it didn't matter. The way of a wolf meant survival, not arrogance mistaken for pride.
For almost a year more we ran, my brother refusing to let his pride fade as we came into a trading post camp, by this point, he no longer spoke to me, and thought only of escape from everything. It was our last run of the season, for spring had melted the last of the ice. It was here that something within me called, and I knew now was the time. By now my master had trusted me, and the lead huskey and I were never tied. I moved freely, as i went about my ways. And I sat on the edge of the woods, looking in, feeling an urge to fade into the shadow of the tress.
But then i turned, hearing the smashing of bottles and my brother leading a pack of wolves away from a flamming building, and towards me. I watched as humans came running, their guns weilded. I felt a snarl rise in my throat, but out of confusion, and my brother took it as the fact that I intended to stand against him and the pack he'd formed. Righ charged me, attacking with his followers, and five to one were odds even I couldn't beat.
It was too much and i fell from my feet, awaiting the fatal bite; but it never came. A bullet peirced the wolf who was to deliver it, and they ran for the woods, knowing I'd no longer be a threat. When I looked up, my master locked eyes with me; after nearly 2 years, i'd earned his trust and he nodded his head. I limped off into the woods, able to obey the instincts within me at long last.
I wandered through the lands, alone, and after a month on my own, I'd hardened and reawakened the wolf inside me. I soon found sanctuary in Eira, but after 2 years in the pack, I became an ambassador to Auryn. I found out what it meant to love someone, and when I was forced to choose between my heart and my pack, I sold my pride, but this time, not to become a dog, but to transcend what it meant to be a lone wolf: i learned a new kind of pride, strength, and love.
And now I continue to protect and serve, but this time, in the deserts of Auryn.
