Rounin[/center]
the character
name, Rounin
age, Two years
gender, Male
pack, None
rank, None
appearance: A weak, ebony-sort of fur marks Rounin as watery black, a wolf palely short of the usually desired depth of tone. A sprawl of deep gray lies between his brightly colored sorrel eyes, emphasizing the lighter shades of fur that compose his cheeks. Black pigment outlines his ears and shoulders, but such pitch is overwhelmed by subtle shades of lighter grays and silvers. His body – and by that, his tail, legs and feet – are all covered in the same blend of color.
Just short of average size, Rounin is light and quick on his feet; having matured so slowly as a pup, being the last in his litter to grow into his full size, he has a heightened comfort in his own body that allows him to fully exploit his capability for supple agility. While not overtly thin, there is a loose intensity and leanness to Rounin that suggest he can really move.
And with a personality as wary as his, that proves to be a good thing.breed, Timber Wolf
eyes, Brown
pelt, Light gray
height, 2’1”
weight, 85
personality: There is a natural caution to Rounin that might make him seem cold or distant, but he in fact enjoys the company of others. While it could never be said that he is outright sociable, he makes an effort – if a small one – to try to talk and be friendly. Consequentially, his soft voice and sometimes awkward words can come across as judgmental when he really just doesn’t know what to say.
Although he’s not the kind to mistrust the world and its mother, Rounin isn’t quick to make friends; he always takes time to consider motives as well as disadvantages, and he’s not above fleeing if he feels uncomfortable in any given situation. Without a strong sense of trust, true companionship is hard for him to come by. Couple that with his weasel-sense of escape and agility, and he can make for a real let-down kind of acquaintance. But, however slight, Rounin does posses a real desire to meet others, even if that desire is a bit flighty.
The gray timber wolf is very curious, and as such has a deep appreciation for the life around him. He is fond of napping in the sunlight, and often chooses to rest near other wildlife just for the silent company.
history: Rounin was born into a litter of three, he being the only male. His time as a pup was pleasant enough, and nothing of any significance diverted him from growing up as a normal wolf. Quieter than his two sisters, Rounin was comfortable to let them take the spotlight among the adults. He matured more slowly as well, and reached his full body mass at a later time than did his siblings. Although he got along with the rest of the pack, he made little effort to form bonds with the other canines; he was, to use the trite term, a sort of lone wolf.
When the alpha of Rounin’s birth pack suddenly died in a hunting accident, there was some dissent among the older males as to who would take over. Much squabbling ensued, with two wolves in particular seeking leadership. To Rounin’s discomfort, the pack seemed to unofficially split between the two males. Frustrated by the lack of order and familiarity, he abruptly took off, literally running from the problem.
He found that he enjoyed time away from pack politics, from expectations and routine. He continued to travel as much as he wanted, moving here and there at his own leisure whenever a change in environment became appealing. Now, after months of living on his own, he is beginning to feel a want to find others. He hopes to find a new family, or at least a friend, willing to simply enjoy life for the sake of it.
