appearance: Mercedes is... striking. Largely a reddish-buff color, her pelt has a coppery tint to it which gleams in the sunlight. Her thick mane is edged in black, and she has a cream-colored patch under her throat and along her belly. A white mask, also edged in black, graces her face and encircles her eyes, similar to a raccoon’s. Both of her left paws have white socks. personality:
Mercedes has a voice to match her body. Smooth, rich, and sweet, she uses it to soothe the sharp words usually coming out of her mouth. Her sarcasm is only matched by her dry sense of humor, and she’ll have herself a good laugh at just about anybody’s expense...within reason, of course. Overall, however, Merc is fairly good-natured and almost smotheringly maternal when she wants to be, especially when she knows it will get on someone’s nerves. Harboring a strong sense of right and wrong, Mercedes will not allow for a pup to be hurt, nor will she tolerate any legitimate threat to one. Although she has not yet borne pups herself, she helped her mother for a little while with the litter after her own and loves pups deeply, even when they happen to be little brats.
She just won’t hesitate to set them straight when they’re being little brats.
In fact, ‘Cedes will act as the ‘Uncle Albert’ of a pack if given the chance; she’s liable to let the pups climb all over her and generally give the rest of the pack, and especially the mother, a break from the little terrors. She might rope a couple of other packmembers into helping her, usually males just to watch the fun.
On a more serious note, Mercedes is loyal and fun-loving most of the time, but she absolutely will not tolerate mistreatment or--heaven forbid--an attack on what she has designated as hers to guard. Where once she held all life as sacred and had sworn never to take another wolf’s life, she will ruthlessly hunt down any who threaten the ones she loves, to the point that she would almost literally have to be dragged off of another should she be ticked off enough. To this end, she will take orders against potential threats without question, regardless of whether it is right or wrong.
However, should the ones she loves be threatened in turn, she will not hesitate to turn on authority.

She was born to the Deka female in her pack, but was the Alpha’s daughter despite the fact that Ranza, Mercedes’ mother, loved the Alpha male dearly. He already had a mate, a strong Alphess who held her position with dignity and was fully supported by the pack despite the fact that she was barren. To that end, the Alphess pressured her mate into selecting another female in the pack in order to continue the pack blood.
Ranza was chosen for her speed, her beauty, and her ability to scent things beyond the others’ capacities. In short, her genes came together to make her desirable, but Ranza was rather small and, although she possessed a strong spirit, too submissive to hold the Alphess position.
In the springtime of the year following the Alpha pair’s decision, Ranza bore a litter of five: four males, respectively named Bumblebee, Max, Leroy, and Danger, and one female. Mercedes grew up in the knowledge that although her brothers were fine candidates for the Alpha position someday, she likely would not be chosen due to the fact that then, of course, there would be a sibling pair, and the pack had borne the infighting which had occurred when Shade chose a female from among the pack. She didn’t mind, and when she grew chose to help with the pups sometimes born to those other females, usually the result of a casual liaison with a rogue male.
Until, that is, her mother went missing.
The pack searched for her, finally coming upon a half-hidden carcass in the territory of the neighboring pack. Mercedes expected her father, and her brothers, to retaliate.
They didn’t. Instead, they chose to believe that the neighboring pack hadn’t been involved, and Ranza had chosen to temporarily run with one of the rogue wolves occasionally coming through and had been killed away from home. Mercedes argued, and was shot down repeatedly with the statement, “We can’t justify and attack. We can’t jeopardize our alliance. It’s too risky on far too little evidence.”
She hated it, and apparently, so did her brothers-- all but one. Bumblebee, Max, and Danger all left beginning in the autumn of their second year, Leroy staying to take over the Alpha position in a few years when Shade gave it up.
When the summer flowers opened after Bumblebee, the last brother discontent with the handling of their mother’s case, had disappeared with the melting snows, Mercedes followed suit.
