personality,Proud. Sera is known to be extremely self-confident throughout the town, and most men even respect that and treat her more closely to equivalent than their wives and sisters. Tomboyish. Her tendency to dress in boys clothes, rather than the traditional female choice to wear dresses and large skirts, is cause for controversy. Some men, typically those closer to her age like that she rebels. Others look down on her as though it is a crime to wear suspenders and caps if you are female. Outspoken. She is in no way quiet about what she thinks or how she feels. People often chose not to bring up harsh topics, for risk of provoking her to voice some of her honest opinions. Sympathetic. She sympathizes greatly with the other women and children of the village, as she had a rough life in both stages before moving to Eira.
She absolutely loves children, and frequently offers to keep an eye on the few in the village if their parents ever need it. She has a complete lack of a love life, considering her tough tendencies tend to push men away from her. That is something she hates - her belief that all men only want a women who will wait on them hand and foot and do her best to look extremely feminine at all times.
history,Beginning. Sera was born in Marseille on the coast of southern France. She was immediately placed in a large orphanage, and was raised there until she was eight years old, when a young English couple vacationing in the area adopted her. As a result of spending the first portion of her life in France, it became her first language. She was taught to speak a small amount of English while living in the orphanage, and quickly learned within the year to speak fluently from her adoptive parents.
The young couple who adopted her had believed they could not have children, but the wife ended up becoming pregnant barely a month after adopting. Sera's brother was born on her ninth birthday.
Middle. Sera was raised in Aldbury, on the outskirts of London. Her parents educated both of the children within their home, as well as taught them daily chores and important skills. She typically spent all of her time with the other girls in the village, until her accident. When she was fourteen, she was wandering with two of her friends and they dared her to climb a very high tree, knowing she wouldn't reject their challenge. Once she reached the halfway point, the branches continued getting smaller. It was getting darker and she mentioned climbing back down, but the girls thought it would fun to tell her to climb higher. The next time she looked down they were gone, probably to avoid missing dinner, but they hadn't told her of course. With her next step, a branch snapped, and she slipped. She managed to catch a branch lower, but couldn't keep her grip. She landed hard on a pile of rocks and the pain was instantaneous. A man ran from the house nearby and brought her to the doctor and notified her parents. She was left with a large scar across her back, and the girls who had abandoned her there stopped talking to her out of guilt. Sera then began spending all of her time hanging out with the boys and dressing like them so that she could cover her scar and fit in easier.
A mental scar followed the one on her back when she turned eighteen. She was hanging out with two of the new boys in town when they took her into the woods, took advantage of her, and left her there, lost. Her father and brother found her hours later, sobbing against a tree and covered in dirt. She stayed in her room for days, then avoided most of the people in the village for her last few years there.
Now. After everything that went on, the ship to the "new world" was the perfect opportunity for Sera to start over. She snuck out in the middle of the night and snuck on as a stowaway. She currently lives alone in the back of her store and spends a lot of time wandering the mountains to get away from everything.
