personality, Innocent, forgiving, quiet, and respectful. Catalina was raised in a traditional Spanish Catholic home. Having this background made her into the woman she is today. Cat is naive and always gives people the benefit of the doubt because she does not want to believe that people are capable of evil. You will rarely hear her speak out of turn unless it is something she is extremely passionate about, and even then she tries to hold her tongue unless greatly provoked. Cat's biggest pet peeve is ignorance and she tries to correct it by educating those who are in the dark. It seems like her true calling should be that of a teacher but her parents need her help on the farm and she would never deny them her help. When she lived in Spain as a child, Catalina's dream was to become a famous dancer. Here in the New World she has given up that dream because she knows that there are more important things than what the individual desires, especially when living on a farm, but dancing will always be Cat's one true passion. Another passion of Cat's is the mysteries of nature and its creatures, most specifically wolves. She is fascinated by their beauty and unaware of the destruction of their habitat that the town is causing. If Catalina knew she would be appalled.
history, Catalina Abella was born late in the summer of 1891 in Barcelona, Spain to a poor Catholic family. Her father made a living as a fisherman and her mother was a seamstress; they happily welcomed Catalina as their first daughter and first child. Catalina and her parents welcomed a baby boy when she was six and again when she was eight. Cat and her brothers were raised to be God-fearing and respectful of their elders as all Spanish Catholics are, but she took this lesson more seriously than her younger brothers. Even as a small child from a not so well off family, Cat tried to do her part in the community. She organized talent shows for the children of her neighborhood and taught the young ones to dance. Dancing is Catalina's passion and while she never to formal lessons, she is a natural at the art.
As Cat got older, it became clear that dancing wasn't her only gift. She was graced with flawless beauty that everyone around her noticed yet Cat too naive to be aware. She saw herself as an average girl, and did not realize when the boys of Barcelona started paying her more attention than the other girls. Cat believed that they were just "nice" and wanted to get to know her
more. She is always looking for the best in people.
While there were many people, mostly men, who attempted to get to know Catalina during her life in Barcelona, she did not become close with anyone outside of her family. She truly believes that family is the most important thing in life next to faith, so when her parents told her that they were immigrating to the New World, this was not hard for her. Cat understood that her father wanted to create a better financaial opportunity for the family, so she was okay with the change. Unfortunately, her father only ended up as a farmer at their new home.
