personality: Bailey is confident, commanding attention wherever she goes. She can sometimes be dramatic, and flirts when she is bored. However, she can become a good friend to both males and females if given the chance. She is mellow most of the time, and is always tired. However, she never really shows it.
Bailey loves pups. However, the thought of having her own scares her. She had a strong maternal instinct, but she is often forgetful. She is considered weak by most, but when she is enraged, she can lose control and rampage. However, this rarely happens.
Bailey believes in using all of an animal. She eats everything, loving to gnaw on the bones. She has an unnatural obsession to water, usually stopping to point out how the light filtering through the trees looks beautiful, or the way the water ripples over those rocks. She is easily distracted, except for when she is discussing romance or love with someone.
Along with nature and pups, Bailey is fascinated by humans. She likes to study them, and often leaves 'gifts' for them- shrews and mice, or bones and feathers.
Over all Bailey is, in a nutshell, odd. She is fun-loving and spontaneous, but also calm and [sometimes] serious. She loves to listen to what humans call 'music', staying near settlements just to listen to the yearning voices, and also looks for it in the birdsong and crickets.
history: Bailey was born to a pair of loners. Her father was kind and gentle, her mother sweet and warm. They were 'poor', in a way. They did not have friends or a good shelter. They lived in a small burrow, and faced the wrath of nature in many ways, too warm in the Summer, too cold in the Winter. But they had eachother. Bailey was taught to seek out the beauty in the world, but not to ignore the ugly things in the world. Bailey often drifted into daydreaming as a pup, zoning out as her mother held a daily 'teaching'. Her father was usually out hunting, but he always found time to spend with the family.
And finally, Bailey went on her first hunting trip.
'Remember to control your breathing,' her mother reminded her many times before she left. And Bailey remembered. Her first target was perfect, and old buck, slow and weak. Bailey excecuted the bite on the neck perfectly, killing it quickly. But as she was headed home, buck dragging along in her maw, a storm hit. She dragged the warm deer to the shelter of some nearby shrubs and cowered, hiding from the pouring rain.
When she returned home, there was blood everywhere. Immediately, she dropped her catch and ran into the den, squirming through the small entrance. Her mother and father lay dead on the floor, their eyes wide and mouths agape. They had been murdered. Bailey began to weep. Her parents had done nothing to deserve this, had they? She looked at the elk. His eyes were staring, blank and dead. She looked back to her parents. Their eyes had the same expression. Confusion, wondering why this happened to them. Suddenly, the room closed in, the eyes of all three, her loving parents and the dead elk were staring at her, closing her in, hunting her down.
'Get away from me!'
And she fled, away from home, towards the human settlement. There she met a husky, Jack. He was a year older than she, and looked as if he was half wolf, but he was kind and gentle. He let her sleep in his kennel during the cold nights. She learned from him, in exchange for her telling stories about the spring and the fall, how the leaves changed colors and how the flowers bloomed. Jack was blind, but he could tell exactly what she was doing by the sound and tone of her voice.
She lived there, with him for a whole year, until she was 2 years old. She would snuggle into his thick fur on cold nights, just listening to his breathing.
And they fell in love.
One night, however, Jack tried to mate her. Bailey got scared, thinking of her parents lying dead on the floor, and she ran. She stayed on the outskirts of loner territory, she could hear Jack howling, calling her home. Only once did she howl back, but she did not go home. She never heard Jack howl again.
A half-year later, she moved on. She made herself forget him, the way he calmed her when she first met him, told her everything was going to be okay. She hoped that he met a femme who could commit, and had many puppies. But she had to let him go. So she did.
And now, Bailey roams alone, drowning her sorrows in senseless flirting and running.
But, perhaps, someday, she'll visit Jack again.
