Mhairi is fiercely independent and proud. She will won’t allow any other wolves too help her unless she really doesn’t have any other choice, and even then the decision to receive help is a hard one for her to make. This isn’t helped by the fact she is very mistrusting of other wolves, and doesn’t think that they will actually help her.
When surrounded by other wolves, Mhairi will keep to herself off to the side and brood. She’s rather blunt and awkward in social situations, and will avoid them as much as possible. In fact, to Mhairi, the least wolves there are around her, the better, which has made it extremely difficult for this young wolf to join a pack.
The thing Mhairi hates most is fighting. She was surrounded by it as a pup, and even though she knows how to battle, will often refuse. She’ll either take up an extremely submissive position in an attempt to quell the anger, or will refuse to fight back if she is being attacked. Even though she is usually very submissive and quiet, mistrusting and independent, anyone that does manage to get close to her will have her complete protection. She will not fight for herself, but for those she cares about most. If she sees a wolf she cares about in pain, Mhairi tends to lose control of her emotions and attack.
She is incredibly fearful of humans, and if she even catches a whiff of them, will get as far away as possible. Usually, she will leave whatever companions are with her behind, but if she is close to them, she will try her best to take them out of the situation too.

Sheligne was once a proud and peaceful pack whose territory was set in the North. The climate was often harsh and prey sometimes scarce, but because everyone in the pack was so greatly focused on the search for food, very rarely was there any other conflict.
Mhairi was part of her mother Cailyn’s third litter. Alpelle and Ginevra had been born into the pack already eight seasons before. The litter born before her had contained all stillborns, and because of the traumatic experience of losing four pups, Mhairi and her twin brother Kinetic only got to hear stories of their mother’s bright personality, they never saw it themselves.
It seemed that as soon as Mhairi and Kinetic were able to see, the pack was on the move. Barely a season after the pack had started to move, Cailyn gave birth to two twin males, Umbra and Penumbra. This was extremely rare – and dangerous. Cailyn needed all the nourishment the pack could scrounge up, but by this time the warm weather was slipping away and prey starting to move on. Penumbra and Umbra were both runts, and the entire pack was expected to baby and take care of them.
They were the first to die when the humans came.
They came with spears and dogs and glowing red wood. Snow had already fallen, and though the humans were easy to track, so were the wolves themselves. The dogs separated the pack and the twin runts captured. Cailyn was killed in her attempt to save her youngest pups.
Much of the rest of the pack was either killed or captured. Nire had become colder, more and more slipping away into madness. He began teaching his pups, Alpelle, Ginevre, Kinetic and Mhairi how to fight, giving them harsh punishments when they did something wrong.
It was night when they came again, the type of night where even the stars and moon were to scared to come out. The only light was from the humans glowing sticks. They had killed Ginevra, and Nire forced Kinetic and Mhairi away while Alpelle and himself fought.
A blizzard raged that night, and the siblings were separated. Mhairi was forced to live on her own, and became extremely scrawny from her unsuccessful hunts. She realized that, as much as she really didn’t want to join another pack (having never recovered from the sudden loss of her own family), she would need to do so to survive.
