personality:

Druid is not a kind queen, but she is a cunning and clever one. She can be withdrawn and borderline paranoid, and extends her trust, and her time, to only a small circle. Ordinary pack members may feel closed off from her. When she deals with them she is cold and businesslike, treats them with stiff politeness, and sometimes even with impatience and dismissal if she judges that they're wasting her time...although it cannot be said that she is above playing favorites.

Of course, once a rank is earned, one will be seeing their alphess much more often. She will treat them as an equal, although it is to be understood that they are not, hierarchically speaking.

It would be unfair to call her a warmonger, but it would be reasonably accurate to call her determined, or, if you are so inclined, ruthless. When Druid sets her aspirations, she will do anything within her power to see them achieved, no matter how many skulls she has to tread on to get there. She is neither indecisive nor prone to flip-flopping; once she has made a decision she will stick with it relentlessly.

She does not have friends and enemies. She has rivals, both friendly and unfriendly. She plays it like a game, but hardly in the lighthearted way you may imagine.

She is cold and cynical, and takes herself far too seriously.

Although now a desert wolf, Druid was born into the snowy lands of what is commonly called Russia. She was among the five royal offspring of the Noddwind pack, the middle child, and the only female to survive into adulthood.

The eldest, who was officially named Ratastok but dubbed Scarecrow for his scrawny frame and sticklike legs, became alpha after their father, Gilgamesh, died. When he took up the throne, the Noddwind pack was deep into war with a neighboring force, and it was a war that they inevitably lost. Scarecrow was executed, the Noddwind pack broken, and the alphess (Druid's mother, a vivacious wolf named Frigg, who knew a victor when she saw one) ran off with the opposing alpha and never looked back. The remainder of the pack, bloodied and shattered as they were, fell into civil war.

Druid's other brother was named Tyr. After Scarecrow's death, she and Tyr defeated a series of brutal challengers and thus asserted their birthright by defeating and uniting the pack. It was even rumored that they dabbled in an incestuous affair to seal their hold as alpha and alphess.

But despite everything, the pack remained beyond repair. Druid grew restless and wanted to move on, and after a time she began to resent her brother. She began to neglect her duties as alphess, dropping hints that the pack had become decadent and worthless. Tyr, for his part, grew frustrated with her, struggling to maintain his father's legacy. He was having enough trouble keeping the pack from falling to one of their stronger neighbors, and now he had to deal with dissent from within, as well? The siblings fought often, soon over almost everything. Word became teeth, and soon the squabbles intensified, involving the other pack members. In one final, bloody spat, Druid fought several members of Noddwind, and killed two. Even when her ear was torn and her ankles slashed, her brother would not lift a paw in her defense, and she hated him for it. She left that day, and never gave it a backwards glance. She was the one who walked away, but in her mind, it had been Tyr who had abandoned her, first.

If Tyr ever led Noddwind back to the powerful pack it once was, or indeed if he is still alive, Druid does not know, and has since convinced herself that she no longer cares.
