The Plot
It was the last world war, split between the east earth and the west. The conflict was long forgotten by the end of the war; it had begun with a fight over the last oil reserves and had grown into something far bigger and more powerful than anyone could have imagined. Now the power starved countries formed two groups, the east and the west, each striving to prove their dominance over the other. The presentation of the DNA bomb to the east earth was thought to be the final answer, the one weapon that would destroy the enemy completely. Once dropped, it would destroy the west humans from the inside out, unraveling and destroying their DNA strands one by one. It was the perfect solution.
Or so they thought.
With the release of the DNA bomb, a dark secret was found out. A traitor from the east had programmed the bomb to destroy the east and leave the west. But he made one fatal mistake, a mistake that would cost all of humankind. In a split second, the whole of society lay in smoking ruins upon the charred earth. Except for a handful of survivors; the wealthy Le Roi family and the fifty other people whose lives they had purchased for a sum exceeding three billion dollars. They had survived, but they thought that the West earth would still be intact. But soon, the dark secret was found out, and the group was left alone. The Le Roi family lived as they always had, in their large villa on the outskirts of Greater Paris. They had been smart and spared the lives of only people that would be of use to them and their families. Royal chefs cooked for the family and also fed the other survivors. Scientists, Mechanics, and Engineers continued their research and development of new ideas. In a way, life was normal- just with fewer people.
Then came to decision to move to Volitare, a smaller and more compact city in which the Le Roi family could continue their monarchy. But upon arrival, they found out two things. First, the city was under the rule of a highly organized society of canines. And secondly, the city itself had fallen into ruin. What used to be the broadcasting center of the world was now little more than a junkyard. There were three packs within the city, Tierra Oscura, Aveugle Royame, and Visalli Peaks. Relentless and vigilant, all humans who dared to enter were killed. But they were not killed by the city residents. Another group, a darker and more mysterious group worked the borders, unknown and undetected by the city inhabitants. Volitare canines knew nothing of this group, they still thought that they were alone in the world, and that there was no other force out there to stop them.
But that’s just what the others wanted them to think. The larger groups behind the borders will stop at nothing to rule the city. One of those groups, perhaps the most powerful, is the canine formed mafia called Mise à mort. La Mauvais, also known as Le Feu, is the leader of the group and heads their path to dictatorship. To rule the city would be to rule the world and all of its inhabitants. But first, they had to overthrow the other three packs. Spies were planted within the territories, funneling information back to the Mise à mort leaders. Soon, very soon, they would reach a decision.
At first, the Mise à mort canines and the humans fought, one group trying to breach the border and flood the city, while the other group fought to keep the border intact. Lives were lost, but the evidence was covered up by Mise à mort, less the Volitare canines found out.
Then, an alliance was formed. A feeble partnership between Le Maison D'Or and one of the Mise à mort members was struck, a line of communication opening between the humans and the dogs. Both wanted one thing. Power. They wanted the city, and they wanted to rule forever. There would be no room for the three packs, not unless they complied.
Something was starting, something far bigger than the city could try to hide. Members of Mise à mort stationed within the three packs began to try to turn the members against their leaders, one by one attempting to turn their alliance over to Le Feu and her companions. The humans aided Mise à mort, moving in on Volitare with the one weapon the canines couldn’t withstand, fire. Area’s were burnt and destroyed, shrinking Volitare’s already hindered perimeters. An end was coming.
The partnership had seemed like a good thing, something in which both Mise à mort and the humans could benefit from. But the needs of two power hungry groups are more than the city can withstand. Change is coming, faster than one would like to think.
It was an alliance, but was it for the better or the worst?
