personality: Mistress is very mischievous, and it's very easy for her to cause trouble due to her small size. She's able to hide well in small areas such as cracks in a cave, rock wall, or even floorboards if she's able to rip them apart a bit. George always said she was a mix between a cat and a dog (though that's not true at all) due to her ability to leap onto high areas and hide. She's very motherly when it comes to her two favourite dogs in the world, Akela and Keith. She is still devastated about Jeff's passing and supports her family in finding the cruel pack of rogues who did the deed. Secretly, she misses the two horribly, having nightmares about the two being slaughtered by the humans with metal killing rods that burn her nostrils or being devoured by wolves. She fears for them every second of the day and night for them, and a few times she tried to go after them days after they left, but only encountering more humans who thought of her as a wolf. Their metal killers probably would've done the job to Akela or Keith, but she had been too fast and small for them, time and time again.
history: Mistress crouched low to the snow covered ground under the brush growing off of a pine tree. She could smell the humans and their metal rods. A twig cracked under her forepaw and one of the humans whipped his head around in astonishment.
"I think I heard something over here!" he barked to his partners. She leapt away, purposely making herself visible to the wolf-hunters. This had become a game to her, and it was getting easier every time. Her heart no longer sped when the humans spotted her, but it lurched whenever a shot was fired.
Boom!
She whipped her head around as she heard the snap of a branch overhead. So they were going to try to crush her instead of shooting at her? No problem. She leapt gracefully away from the crashing pine needles.
Boom!
This one surprised her. Her heart began to pound against her chest, giving her a sick feeling. the shot had barely missed her muzzle, the shot bouncing off of a gnarled, twisted tree root in front of her. Her paws began to shake as she began running now. She had to get back. The game was still becoming too dangerous. The humans tried to follow her, but she was always too fast for them.
As soon as she nudged the thick, wooden door open into the small house, she shut the opening with her hind foot and settled into the soft couch. It smelled like George and Akela and Keith. It also reminded her of the first time she met Akela. He was laying on a sofa in Jeff's house. An old feeling gnawed at her insides. Still, she had never felt more alone.
